Going from strength to strength

Posted on: March 26, 2018

For some time now the Head teacher, Mrs Liddell, and the Board of Governors of Bloemfontein Primary School have conducted extensive research into their school becoming an academy and potentially joining Stanley Learning Partnership.

Consultation with their stakeholders began in December 2017 in January 2018 the Board of Governors passed a resolution to convert to academy status.

In February of this year The Department for Education (DfE) met to consider the application and we are absolutely delighted to confirm that an Academy Order was granted. This enables Bloemfontein to become an academy and as such, join Stanley Learning Partnership.

Feedback from our DfE Conversion Project Manager was very complimentary with regards to both our application and Stanley Learning Partnership as a whole. The Head Teacher Board (who review all applications) expressed their confidence in SLP as a Multi-Academy Trust and recognised the immense benefits Bloemfontein will bring to us.

Whilst we are still in the very early stages of this journey, this Academy Order marks the beginning of yet another extremely exciting time in our history. As a relatively new Multi-Academy Trust, to have grown from two schools to four in such a short space in time is a fantastic achievement for us all.

The addition of Bloemfontein Primary School, another “Good” school, strengthens our Partnership further and creates yet more opportunities for us to share best practice and expertise. In doing so, we will see the standard of education we provide continue to rise.

As with all schools within our Partnership, we will embrace and respect the distinct ethos and character of The Font and, more importantly, ensure it continues.

We will now work very closely with Bloemfontein throughout the remainder of the conversion process. Upon its completion, we will move towards an official conversion date. We anticipate this being towards the end of the academic year, although dates are subject to change. As we progress we will continue to keep you up to date and well informed.

As always, we would like to thank parents and families from all of our schools for your continued and unwavering support. You are very much part of the success of our schools and the Partnership and we look forward to seeing our community of families grow.
