Children from Greenland Community Primary School recently took part in the The Big School Swim with Swim England

The Big School Swim, an annual event that celebrates swimming in schools, is a great opportunity for children to celebrate the fun – and importance – of learning how to swim and learning about water safety.

As part of their involvement in the Big School Swim, children participated in a confidence building swimming lesson and joined Olympic swimmer Chris Cook for a fantastic assembly with and Q & A session.

Mrs Wallace, HLTA and one of Greenland’s swimming coaches said;

“Being involved in the Big School Swim has been fantastic for our children.  It has given them the opportunity to learn vital skills needed for swimming and water safety as well as have fun.

Here at Greenland we take immense pride in our swimming provision.  During their time at Greenland children will receive numerous swimming session, irrespective of their ability.  We not only see swimming as a life skill but an opportunity for children to develop their confidence, determination and resilience.

Introducing Olympic swimmer Chris Cook to the children has given them an even greater understanding of the importance and benefits of swimming.”

Well done to all of Greenland’s swimmers and non-swimmers for their amazing efforts in the pool over the year! We’re sure there are some Chris Cooks in the making!!!
